In this chapter we will be calculating a lot, especially with percentages. You need a perfect command of this for the subjects of economics and M&O (management and organisation). First, though, we shall look at pocket money and the need to make arrangements about the precise meaning of concepts. Then we shall deal with rounding off figures, calculating weighted and unweighted averages, converting amounts from weeks to months and, quite extensively, calculating percentages. In the building blocks of this chapter more difficult percentage calculations will return and an example of a weighted average, the AEX stock exchange index.
