In this first chapter we are introduced to the households living at Park Road. We shall meet the inhabitants of Park Road several times in this lesson. After that we shall discuss the concept of household in an economic sense and also look at the way in which households obtain their money. We shall see that there are various reasons why enterprises and the government are interested in the composition of households. How many persons do they consist of, what is their income and how do they spend their time. Then you will learn about skills that you must master for the subject of economics: arithmetic, making and interpreting graphs, dealing with tables, processing information and conducting research.
