This is the first of two lessons on economics. It is a new subject for you. Many things that you will come across are not new for you. Economics is about people's behaviour, so it is about things that you can see in your environment. In these lessons the subjects of economics for the basic secondary school curriculum are discussed, but at the same time we shall take a quick glance at the subjects of 'economics' and 'management and organisation' in the last 2 or 3 forms of havo, vwo and gymnasium. So for you it is also a preview of the 'second phase'. This becomes clear especially in the way in which the subject matter is presented, the independence with which you have to work and the degree to which you must apply what you have learnt.
